This interactive workshop brings together two leading voices from the worlds of inclusion and compliance: Mark Freed from Men for Inclusion and Marcus Kenny from Brookson Legal. Empowering Apprenticeships: Increasing participation in STEM pathways

DNV’s Spadeadam Research and Development facility in Cumbria delivers a wide range of STEM and community outreach activities designed to inspire future talent and attract candidates to its apprenticeship programme. This session explores the key elements behind the programme’s success and looks at practical steps employers can take to remove barriers to female participation in STEM, engineering, and apprenticeship routes.

Attendees will hear first-hand insights from Lee Ellis, Training Manager, and Pippa Shay, Degree Apprentice, before taking part in an interactive discussion on effective outreach, inclusive recruitment, and creating environments where all apprentices can thrive.

Workshop 4

Presented by SSEN Transmission

Thriving through Change: Menopause in the Energy Workplace

Menopause is a natural stage of life, yet it remains one of the least discussed challenges affecting women in the workplace. In the energy sector - where experience, performance, and resilience are critical - many women navigate this transition while continuing to lead, innovate, and deliver.

This session aims to open up the conversation around menopause in business, exploring its impact on wellbeing, productivity, and career progression. By sharing experiences and practical strategies, we hope to foster a more supportive, inclusive environment where women can thrive at every stage of their careers.
